Art for Permanent Supportive Housing by Trish Garrett Fox

BRIEF:  The new Crest Apartments for Skid Row Housing Trust with Michael Maltzan Architecture, transformed an existing open site in suburban Los Angeles into a 64-apartment complex for formerly homeless veterans. Located on a busy thoroughfare near two freeways, the project introduces a new density in the neighborhood with easy connections to public transportation and area resources. 

The client’s permanent supportive housing model includes individual efficiency apartments with on-site social services and community spaces. The client develops, manages and operates permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals in the Los Angeles area. PLAN: Using a new process to direct mount an archival print on paper to a simple custom box frame, adding UV protection, creates a contemporary, low-cost art piece. Art should is soothing for the residents while also modern to match the design by renowned local architect Michael Maltzan.  Colors are deep blue, bright yellow and bright green with hints of gold.  The art budget was limited to prints and is the first time that art was added to a Skid Row Housing Project. Kudos!

PROCESS: FAM's design services included a custom menu of art selections presented digitally to support the objective. Professional project management services included that commissions and framing be produced to exact specifications and meet the desired completion date. The receipt of shipments, installation supervision and professional security installation were overseen by a FAM team member.

Our Creative Director's Show in Miami 2016 by Trish Garrett Fox

Chloe Hedden just returned from her art show with Rubberstamp Art Projects at Red Dot in Miami during the world renowned Art Basel Fair Week. Chloe was a featured alumni of the Rhode Island School of Design showcasing her flower and crystal paintings and debuting her recycled fabric wall sculptures.  Her show was a great success and she viewed new art and established new connections with galleries and artists. Chloe is inspired and nourished and ready to make new art and is creating vibrant custom presentations for our current and new clients at Fine Art Matters.

Fine Art at Children’s Hearing Center by Trish Garrett Fox

BRIEF: The Center for Childhood Communication provides audiology and speech language pathology services to children with hearing loss from birth to adulthood. Its mission is to help children with hearing loss achieve developmental, academic and social outcomes that are commensurate with their hearing peers. The audience includes children, their parents and relatives, doctors, therapists, staff, and board of trustees.

PLAN: The artwork needs to have a Los Angeles theme; have a vintage feel in acknowledgment of the surrounding buildings; have a contemporary feel in acknowledgment of the cutting edge work being achieved at this facility; as well as be interesting to children; have a sophisticated look and feel for other audiences such as donors and staff and use the institution’s color palette to brand.

PROCESS: Art design services included a custom menu of art selections presented digitally and complemented by a presentation of original art to support the Client’s objectives. Professional Project Management services included commissioning art and framing to be produced to exact specifications as well as meet the desired completion date; receipt of shipments and coordination of receipt of art; supervision of decal mural installation and security installation of framed art.

Children's Hearing

ARTWORK:

  1. Nature photography with a vintage effect is placed in the staff offices that are visited by patients and their families as well as in interior corridors.
  2. A storytelling decal art mural of animals, palm trees, birds, butterflies, vintage bikes and planes is incorporated on the walls of the main corridors.
  3. The artwork is playful for a child’s imagination but also engaging for adults.
  4. Mirrors strategically placed at various heights allow children and adults to stop and consider their reflection among the three main corridors of decal art murals.

OUTCOME:

  1. The two artists who were chosen for the vintage effect photography inspire a unique approach to Los Angeles iconography.
  2. The colors chosen for the decal art murals in the 3 main corridors share the same color palette as the entrance Reception/Waiting Area continuing the color palette throughout the facility.
  3. The artwork offers a unique approach to ‘What’s on your Walls?’ a Fine Art Matter’s slogan.
  4. The artwork is unique, engaging and meets the needs of its varied audiences.

Fine Art at Broad Scale Commercial Bank Irvine by Trish Garrett Fox

Interior Architect: Choy Associates 

BRIEF:  The Irvine Branch Office: serves small and mid-size businesses, entrepreneurs, emerging private wealth, high net-worth individuals, high net-worth institutions and their principals, other bankers and investment bankers. This includes all types of businesses; and all ages. The audience also includes employees.

PLAN: The art needs to be rich, elegant, comfortable and contemporary, abstract but not far out modern, some recognizable artists, using unique and varied mediums. Artwork will look smart, competent, well-designed and high quality to represent the highest quality of service. Quality and well designed art to equal trust. Artwork will be accessible, unique and identifiable to this client. The colors in the art will be cheerful and warm; colors that make people feel good.

Professional project management services included that commissions and framing were produced to exact specifications and to meet the desired completion date; the receipt of shipments; insurance certificates; loading dock coordination; installation supervision and professional security installation were all overseen.

Irvine

ARTWORK:

  1. Striking, rich, unique and varied presentation of one-of-a-kind commissioned fine art, limited editions prints on fine art paper, an abstract paper series and digital prints. Simple modern framing completes the stunning look.
  2. The mediums used include: 24K gold plating on distressed canvas; high resolution digital scans of natural objects, a natural fiber handmade paper series and digital prints on paper.
  3. The main focal areas are in the conference room and the teller walls. The teller walls are a series that wrap around two walls and the piece in the conference room can be see from many areas of the office since the walls are glass.

OUTCOME:

  1. The art represents the quality and attention to detail associated with this bank. It is fresh and modern while still being accessible.
  2. Unique pieces were commissioned to achieve the high quality associated with this bank.
  3. The colors are gold and black paired with striking blues and warm soothing neutrals.

Fine Art at the Dean's Offices by Trish Garrett Fox

School of Medicine
Los Angeles, CA 

BRIEF: The 5th Floor represents this institution's School of Medicine to the world and needs to make a statement to visitors. The audience includes highly regarded faculty, researchers, doctors, scientists, new recruits and perspective donors. The art needs to impress both men and women of all nationalities, from all over the world. This includes the student body as well as staff and long time faculty. The age range is 22+ with the average age being 40.

PLAN: The art needs to be intelligent, friendly, professional, respectful, reasonable in cost and reflective of the Dean's prominence as a medical doctor, inventor, scientist and administrator and whose many interests include a personal interest in art. The art needs to reflect cutting edge smart but not Ivy League.

PROCESS: FAM's design services included a customized menu of possible art selections presented digitally on a 32” screen as well as a presentation of original fine art. Some art was viewed conceptually in location via pdf/photoshop. FAM provided professional project management services to insure that the criteria issued for commissions and framing was scheduled and produced to exact specifications to meet the desired completion date; receipt of shipments and insurance certificates; loading dock coordination; installation supervision and professional security installation.

Deans Offices

ARTWORK:

  1. A confident, rich, unique and varied presentation of limited editions prints on various substrates and finished without glass creates an immediate and modern point of view.
  2. Additional limited edition prints of art are traditionally framed.
  3. The art represents abstract work as well as stylistically layered fine art photography of recognizable local iconography.

OUTCOME:

  1. This strong statement of professionalism creates a beautiful and compelling atmosphere.
  2. The colors are rich and upbeat.
  3. The artwork is unique and impressive and respects the institutions global audience, the institution and the Dean's prominence.
